NVidia GeForce GT 610. Black Friday deals. This means I might actually be able to, you know, play a real game, not this Minecraft dogshit.

Why did you buy a gfx card that is 2.5 years old?!

Hold up, he didn't list the price he got it for. There is still hope.

It's less than $50 on Newegg

'Bout $30. And I was running on integrated graphics before, so this is a massive step up in quality.

I didn't even know Nvidia made any GeForce x10 series cards... in other news I fully support this, as I just jumped from an old acer with the original Intel HD graphics, to a laptop with a GeForce GTX 870.

I dunno, a GT 610 is about equal with current integrated graphics. Its saving grace is massively better driver support than Intel's built-in thingy.

Still, you taken your first steps into a larger world. [/ben kenobi]

You're probably better off with a gtx card. Anything is better than integrated though.

I don't know; these new haswell integrated graphics are pretty damn good, and I'd say even better than a GT 610.

I believe it. I'm not totally up to date on my Intel GPUs. I've always bought discrete, so it's never really been something I follow too closely. @_@

Dude, I'm running a six-core AMD from two generations ago. You betcha this is better than its integrated graphics. I'm a bit underfunded, and upgrading to Hassie would mean buying both the chip and the motherboard. Since I'm rather new to rig upgrading, I'm starting small with a real graphics card, then probably taking the RAM up to a full eight gigs. Only then (and after I have a little money saved up from college jobs, after I buy a reasonably-modded (love of GOD no fart can) 240SX), would I consider upgrading my CPU. Hey, at least I don't have to pay for Internet twice like I would with those limp-wristed excuses for gaming machines called next-gen consoles...

Had to fit the budget, and if I had gotten something with more muscle, it would have needed a new power supply, adding fifty-sixty dollars and an installation headache on top of the seventy-to-a-hundred for a better graphics card than the 610.

Also, run a slow rig fast, rather than a fast rig slow. =P
